Prof. Eriko Morishita is a haematologist with a focus on both congenital- and acquired-disorders of haemostasis, especially inherited thrombophilia in Japan. As a professor of the department of clinical laboratory in Kanazawa University Hospital, Prof. Morishita is responsible for the evaluation of the risk of thrombosis of hospitalized patients and for providing suggestions to clinicians at local hospitals.

She is a council member of The Japanese Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis (JSTH) and provides public lectures to both the general public and healthcare professionals. In 2020, together with Dr. Tetsu Urano, Prof. Morishita organized three web-based lectures on COVID-19 and thrombosis, all of which attracted many audiences and were successful. Prof. also published a paper in which we reported that the incidence of thrombosis among COVID-19 in Japan was not low but similar to those in other countries in intensive care unit (ICU) patients (J Atheroscler Thromb, 2021; 28: 406-416).

Additionally, Prof. Morishita serves as the chief editor of the Japanese Journal of Thrombosis and Hemostasis. She also served as co-chair of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) sub-committee on Plasma Coagulation Inhibitors (2018-2021).
